In addition to my portable unit, I have installed one in my furnace intake. It is controlled by a reostat to set a desired level. Set on high it will burn your lungs and eyes. I've only set it there on when on occasion I have burned something in the kitchen, or had a sudden down draft blowing wood smoke into the house.
The ozone does a very good job of killing odors, and some claim it also destroys viruses.
