I have a new (bought it in February 2017) 4540 that has the check engine light on. I have tried 3 OBD II code readers on it and none of them will tell me what the code means or turn the check engine light off

Can anyone tell me what the P1801 code is and how to turn it off?

Can't help with what it means but I would call the dealer and ask. It is under warranty and they could at least send you in the right direction. As far as turning off the code, you may not be able to do that until the remedy is made. It may not be easy but the dealer should be able to fix it, and you have paid for the warranty with your purchase. Good luck and keep us posted.

P1801 is a fuel rail code that only your dealer can remedy. It may be a software issue but you won't know until the dealer plugs his diagnostic tool in. You can only run so long with the 1801 active before other codes will set, so getting it to your dealer ASAP is recommended.

Well I’ve been fighting a 1801 all week with no success in getting it cleared with 5 different automotive scanners. Ended up taking to the dealer this AM. Simple click of “reset” on the PRV (pressure relief valve) and on my way I went with a $119 bill for an hour of labor. Was simply that the computer thinks the fuel rail pressure relief valve opened 50 times so it goes into limp mode. Damn electronics. Now I am changing the pressure relief valve and the pressure sensor on the fuel rail just incase. PRV was $40 and sensor was $150. Yes the service manual states they are not serviceable but that is bull. PRV part number is Bosch 1110010028. The fuel rail sensor is part number Bosch 0281002937.

While I was there, I was watching over the techs shoulder and the software he was using was called FES Diagnostic Tester V17.0. I am really in need to get my hands on a copy of this software. I even called Mahindra this week and they would not sell it to me. If anyone knows where I could buy a copy of it from, please contact me via robinsonpowerstroke@gmail.com Thank you!
