I looked at a tractor today that has a painted platform deck without a rubber floor. Where the heel of the right foot goes, the paint was worn off to bare metal. I wanted people's opinions if that is normal for just 24.X hours on the meter? Something just does't add up IMO.

I would need more info to make a judgement, I could see wearing some paint off where feet are concerned.

I should have taken a picture. Essentially, the tractor is a 2004 with less than 25 hours. As I have little experience with tractors, I am uncertain if wearing thru the paint at the heal area is normal with so few hours.
But, I have a 1998 Toyota 4 Runner with 153,000 miles and the mats where my heel rests looks worn but not worn thru...and I have quite a few more hours driving it than 24!
How easy is it to alter or disconnect the hour-meter on an LG Tractor (FarmTrac, Tafe, Montana, etc.).

Its likely alot easier than disabling ones odometer---likely just a power wire to unhook-most hour meters are just an electric clock---some of the newer digital ones like on Kiotis can be programmed on a curve so to speak---the higher the rpm the more time racks up. But the engine will run without it.

When I purchased my used 1965 John Deere 2010 it had been freshly painted. After I put on about 40 hours of operation there was some sign of wear on the spot where my heel rested but not a lot. I have lots of sand on my property and I was always cleaning sand off of the foot rest area so I figured that the abrasive sand was doing the paint damage. I went to the hardware store and bought some of that stick on gritty stick on tape stuff used on stairs, cut it to shape and put it on all of the high contact areas.
I have not looked at many newer tractors but don't they put a product on the high wear areas to protect the paint and help prevent your feet from slipping?
If the tractor was used in a sandy area, 24 hours worth of operation could cause the wear, but I would look closely at other areas for similar wear patterns before making a commitment to purchase.

I wouldn't worry about it.. Usually if there is enough traffic to wear paint off, even paint that isn't adhering very well, there is also enough traffic to keep the rust worn off.

Also.. by looking, I take that to mean you looked at one on a dealers stock yard. There may have been many people climbing up on it to look.... way more than the hour meter shows.

Depending on the type of tach, most tractors accumulate an hour at pto rpm, 2200-2400 rpm, so a person could easily be be running the tractor for 50 or 75 hours to rack up 24 hours, depending on the job. Driving around a dealer lot, for instance, would probably actually take 75 hours of seat time for 24 hours on the clock.
