Was just thinking this afternoon. Next week or the week after I am going to go ahead and repaint my 155D. I was thinking about taking photos of it from the start to the finish including sanding it, taping etc, kinda like a step by step tutorial. Do you guys think that would be enough of interest to put here in the forum for those that may never have painted anything. I figure it could help some folks. I can also post it on my website and then link to it from here. I have done stuff like that professionally before so it would be hopefully easily visible and understandable by a newbie.

What do yall think?

Sounds like a good idea to me, Dennis. And it would be my suggestion to put it in the Projects forum instead of the Yanmar forum simply because I think more people would see it there. I realize you're talking about a Yanmar, but it sounds to me like a project that would apply to any brand.

And if anyone disagrees, please feel free to say so.

Actually, I think I have to agree with you, Bird. And then just link to it from this forum. :)

Yes, please! I really should do something about mine, sooner or later. I know nothing about painting and don't have any of the tools, or I would have been puttering around painting little stuff like the wheels long ago. The loader will be so complex to paint that I'm afraid to start even though that's what needs paint the most.

Bird's probably right that your notes should be shared with a larger audience, in the Projects forum.

I have one Yanmar-specific question: If you ever find that weird green listed in a catalog somewhere, I would like to know so I can match it exactly. I've found similar colors but none of them look right.

Once I get it done Iwll likely post it as Bird suggested. That did make sense.

I paint all my stuff myself. Been doing it a long time now. I had painted my own car my very first time years ago. Talk about a disaster. Didnt have anyone to advise me then. The paints are alot better now also.

I plan to get a piece of the paint off mine and take it in to have it scanned. Once that is done and its mixed, I should be able to obtain the mix recipe. Most use standard numbered paints so you should be able to take it down to the local paints store and they should be able to mix it. Up under the hood on my tractor is a patch that is original color and not faded. I think I can get it off and take it in to get it scanned. I can then email the mix code to anyone who wants it I think.

Thank you for the tutorial offer. :D

Seeing as I also have been thinking of painting my tractor I'd definitely be interested.:D

Yes, please do post a tutorial.

I have a Gravity feed gun, but have never used it. I wouldn't know the 1st place to start ;)

There are many things around here that could use a good coat of paint (namely, my 88 Chevy Pickup, but that won't be 1st on the list).
