Man, I'll bet our car had at least 90 dents in it from that hail storm. My wife and 1 of our kids and I were walking to the car in a parking lot and we hear what sounded like pinging, like metal ball bearings bouncing. Getting louder and louder, yet we were in bright sunlight. Then we saw white balls bouncing UP about 200 yards away and a white wall coming towards us. It was the weirdest sound. And we could see people running, so I grabbed them and threw them in the car just as it hit us. It was so loud! I was worried about it taking out the rear windshield or sunroof, so I had the kid stand up in the back seat under the metal part and we waited it out. Probably 10 minutes solid. The hail averaged about 1.5" in diameter. Every car, home, business, etc... sustained massive damage in about a .5 x 1 mile swath. As I mentioned before, the only panels on the car that didn't have dents were the driver's side doors as they were on the downwind side. It was brutal. All the leaves and small branches got stripped off the trees. Roofs on houses in the windward side were stripped. Vinyl siding was gone. Pool covers, gazebos, awnings didn't stand a chance. Quite amazing no one was seriously injured.
