I am looking to purchase a set of pallet forks. Pallet forks.com have a 295 # set for $524. They are 42" x 4"x 1.25. EA have a 240 # set for $657 rated @ 1800 # also 42", but 3" x 1".
EA has 1000 mile shipping free and PF.com ships for free. Has anyone tried either set. I have a CIH DX 31 with an L340 loaded with a capacity of 1250 #

Keep in mind the rated capacity is at the pins with the standard bucket attached. Most buckets weigh more than a set of forks, so (at the pins) you'll gain some lift capacity over the rating when using forks.

I'm happy with mine from Palletforks.com. Already done a few naughty things with them... 1 fork removed pointed straight down trying to loosen up some clay in the bottom of a post hole (really need to get a hydraulic downpressure system for my post hole digger... and the hydraulic remotes to run it). Lifted the front of my 2500 lbs Kubota L3200 easily. No ill effects, other than a muddy fork. I still can't lift the 1 ton pallets of bricks my father in law is making my retaining wall with, but that's a tractor capacity problem, not the forks.

Only problem was the forks are a bit stiff & don't want to slide easily. Greasing everything up a lot helped a little, but it's still a lot of kicking & wigglingg to adjust the fork width.

I have PalletForks.com forks, they are a very solid set of forks. No complaints.

I just purchased and a set of light-weight forks with stabilizer bar from palletforks.com. I'm very happy with the quality, the forks are stronger than what my BX can lift.

I have had my Pallet fork forks for around two years now no problems yet and I really don't foresee any.

EA is one of the reputable, conscientious companies with a genuine contribution to the tractor community.

Pallet forks .com aka titan aka skid steer express aka atvexpress knocks off others, making low budget junk outsourced to China.

First, welcome aboard.

I completely agree with the EA assessment. Regarding the pallet forks being junk assessment, do you have them? Are you speaking from first hand experience? I do have the 36" version from pallet forks and they do their intended job well and then some. Anything bigger than 36" is more than my tractor can handle.

Albeit a pallet fork has limited moving parts and simple engineering. I would certainly look to EA for anything more "intricate".

You may want to read the following if the subject of knock-offs is to be broached :

Ted started working on our new Rake Style Wicked Grapple today. The design will be an enhanced version of the Bradco Compact Root Rake.
So far, we know that it will open 4" wider than the Bradco and provide 35% more clamping force.
I wanted to start this thread to share the design and build process of this new product. I hope you enjoy.
As always, we'd love to hear your comments!!

EA clearly implies they are using the Bradco as a basis as I see it. Even so far as to provide a link to the Bradco grapple they intend to " enhance".

PalletForks.com Titan makes good cost effective equipment.

I haven't had my PalletForks.com forks for that long to speak for their durability, but they have done fine so far. And really, do you expect them to go bad or suddenly wear out? They are just a couple chunks of steel. It's not like there are any bearings or anything. The forks slide, but you aren't going to move them enough to end up causing any significant wear there.

Most tractor stuff that doesn't have moving parts will last ages if it survives the first month or so.

Thank you for your objective reception and reply. Yes, I have various first hand experience but unfortunately am not at liberty to expound in this censored environment, tragically.

I had to laugh at another thread I saw on here where pf.c0m was asking for help to design some attachment. Then, announced it would be some 6 weeks till they would become available, coincidentally the time it takes for a boat to cross the ocean. So, unwitting suckers are doing their design work for them, then pf.c0m with no acuity doesn't lift a finger, sends it overseas, and it gets sold back to them. Pathetic business.

Getting customer feedback & suggestions is a valid part of almost every business. Customers end up getting what they want, business gets a design that will sell well. I'd call that a win/win situation. Nobody force the customers to provide the help, and as a matter of fact that's the whole point of forums in general, people communicating & helping other people.

It's not like it's a secret that PF or ETA are in the business of making & selling stuff. As advertisers, they are the major source of funding for this very message board. Having vendors that cater to the forum, listen to our feedback & openly provide support in a public manner is a great thing.

Laying out a half million or whatever for a container full of something is a pretty good gamble to me. There is also a **** of a lot of logistics involved (as with any business, even domestic manufacturing), quality control (which they seem to have), support & returns issues... There is a lot more to running a business than you seem to think.

As far as the stuff being made in China, that boils down to 2 things. No american jobs, which sucks, but welcome to globalization. The other is the straw man "cheap Chinese crap" argument. You can take Chinese out of that statement. Cheap crap is cheap crap, even if it's made in the U.S.A. If a company cares more about price than quality, it will show up no matter where something is made. Chinese goods just exacerbate the issue, people are looking to pinch every penny possible & find Chinese labor cheaper. You can get decent or good quality stuff from China, but you have to pay more, and some manufacturers (and customers) aren't willing to pay for quality. I haven't seen any issues with my PF pallet forks, so they have done a decent job there. Pallet forks aren't exactly rocket science, but it does take some measure of quality. Could the welds be cleaner? Could the paint be better? Probably, but scraping them them with pallets, dirt, rocks & banging them against whatever else I can find would have them would have them looking no better in no time. Know the quality you need.

I looked at forks from ETA (presumably made in the USA) & liked what I saw, but the weight/capacity/quality/price equation for Pallet Forks just worked out a little better.

And as for a censored environment? I haven't seen much censoring around here.

And no, I'm not related to any vendor around here, other than being a satisfied customer that dislikes ignorant borderline racist comments.
