Has anyone used these pallet movers to haul large water tanks for spraying? I am considering using a pallet mover to haul my 200 gallon tank (which is in a wire pallet box) instead of hauling it on a trailer for my spraying work. I think it would be much easier to get around small areas than on a trailer. Any thoughts or reccommendations? Thanks.

I'll let you know later this spring since I bought this set 3-pt. Pallet Fork - Agri Supply and plan to get one of the wire cage tanks next... I'm just going to be moving water for a garden. Anyway, I sure hope it works... I'm not planning to have it completely full...

My thoughts:

These IBCs hold 1000 litres of water - that is a 1000Kg - so 2200Lbs. Add the weight of the IBC itself and you are well over the capacity of these forks, and maybe the TPL as well.

Also as IBCs do not have baffles, I guess that amount of water moving around might have 'interesting' effects on the handling!!

I've got the King Kutter version I use to move wood around on pallets. Also have a 250 gallon tank for watering garden. Usually use my 3/4 ton chevy to move water since the 790 I just sold didn't have the lift capacity. But I think the 4310 I'm waiting on will. Full of water is probably over the weight capacity. I'll cross that bridge when it's dry enough to worry about it. Remember if transporting water in these tanks make sure they are full so there is no sloshing. It will definetly put whatever your driving off balance.

In trucker talk its hauling swinging meat. And the reason they have baffles in tanks.

I've considered the same thing. I've got some homemade forks that I move mine around on. I usually don't fill mine completely full and usually use it for drinking water (stock) only. I've entertained the thought of building a spray rig out of one but that hasn't "materialized" yet. Like others have said, figure on the water itself weighing 8lbs/gal plus the weight of the container when buying your forks. Also, like others have said, being a baffle-less tank you might have the "swinging meat" effect. If you do continue with the project I'd like to hear and see how it goes. Thanks.

Yes. I built a sprayer using the pallet mover that Agri-supply has for $179.95. I paid $159.00 for it because it was rusty from sitting on the lot so long. I used a yellow 200 gal tank with saddle, and made a 20' folding spray boom. Also added a spray gun with 30' hose. I probably have close to $1000 in it but like it better than anything that I could buy.
