The parking brake is off, but the flasher keeps going on my 4010 CUT.

How do I remove that black plastic panel beneath the steering wheel that I supposedly need to remove to get to the parking brake switch? Neither the owners' manual nor the maintenance manual on CD tell me how this thing is removed.

I suspect that the switch is probably just stuck or maybe the prong that the parking brake lock lever is supposed to trip broke off.

The diagrams on JDparts is not much help, either... There's a relay on the center counsul but it doesn't show how to access it.

Maybe the Deere engineers expected the owner's of the 4010 to have a large hammer and crowbar in their tool box!!

I started to take out the 4 bolts on the sides of the black plastic panel and then saw that the ignition key bezel has to be removed, plus the throttle handle. So, I decided to wait to see if I get a response herein. Should be some 4010, 4110, etc. owners who've done this.

The flasher went off today after working with the tractor some. The switch was probably just jammed. You'd think that it presses against the plastic parking brake lock from the back side. Can't figure out how the thing could jam in the out position, because the parking brake lock should push it back in.

Sorry Ralph, I have not had to remove the center console on my machine...yet.

Ralph, I have a 4115 and it should be the same. Take out the four screws holding the dash on and than lift up (you can take the steering wheel off to make it easier but you don't have too). Next take off the throttle handle and the eight , I think, screws hold the black panel on. You don't have to take the ignition bezel off. Now pull the panel back from the top and you can disconnect the ignition. You can leave the parking brake connected as long as you don't pull the panel back too far. This covers most of the steps if I missed one you will be able to figure it out. Hope this helps Larry.
