Does any one know what the rod in the attached photo is called? I cant find it in jdparts. Dont ask how I managed to get it in this state, but as a hint forcing something is never a good idea

Some kind of drag link? is it for steering? where was it on your tractor? Are the threads reversed on one side? or standard cut both sides? Just curious /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Seems to me you could cut the old threaded section off with a cutting disk / bandsaw and then weld a grade 8 bolt the size / thread to match the factory. That is the link arm that connects the hardware from the 3 pt hitch to the mower deck. It gets bent when it is not adjusted to the correct length. I know because I tried to adjust it when I was setting up my mmm and I also bent it.
The part number is <font color="blue"> </font> LVU13305.

Do a search under the part number on JD parts and it will show you the diagram.
I'm not sure, but I think it was around $30-$40.

If you have the operator's manual for the mower deck, it is on pages 6&7, under the installation section.

It says to turn the lift rod assembly (the thing we both bent) to lengthen the distance between the centerline of the yoke holes (the horseshoe shaped things that go on the end) to 625cm (24.6 inches).

Another thing that you should know. The nuts & yokes that go on the ends are two different sizes and different part numbers. If you damaged anything else, make sure that you order the correct part.

When I bent it, I was trying to turn the mower height control knob 360 degrees as stated in the manual. Once I fixed it, I haven't messed with it again. I can't set the height higher than #4, but that's fine with me. I don't leave the grass that long anyway.

And I'm also very thankful for TBN.

PS - Did you buy your tractor from Chester Valley ?

osymandius, it is also real important to adjust the lift links on your mower to have .002" clearance between the lift links and the stop pins located on the frame of your tractor. Failure to do this will result in the lift rod being bent also. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

.002 clearance?, the paint is thicker than that. The manual calls for 2mm (.08 in.) clearance between the lift arms and the machine frame stud.

I think these manuals are in coming in several editions. My one calls for a 1/16 inch gap or 1.6 mm. Also I dont find any mention of the length that the rod has tobe.

Installed length of lift rod is 625mm (24.6 in.) this is measured from centerline to centerline of the yoke holes. To get your mower height control knob to turn 360 degrees you may have to lengthen the rod a little try 1-2mm at a time. I had to lengthen the one on my tractor to get the knob to rotate 360.
