Does anyone have any experience parting out a tractor? After buying some used parts and seeing the price of others, I thinking (and that's always dangerous) I might recoup more of my loss parting out than trying to sell it as is!
Parting out a machine is a regular business on eBay. A lot of guys have found out when it comes to used machinery that there's a lot more money if they part it out than if they try to sell it as a whole.
I hate to see some of the old machines like South Bend metal lathes form the 40s and 50s broken up but to each his own.
Is it not feasible to find an engine block and rebuild it yourself? If I can pull it off it can't be that hard. I am sure some of the guys here would know things like, are those engines sleeved? Are parts expensive and/or can you buy them in kit form? You could part it out but one of the major parts is the engine. That could ding you on trying to recoup your money. I am sure with patience and ebay you could do all right.
