In case your eyes didn't go left first, it's a '94 Ford 1620 HST 4WD. I am fostering it and have just moved it to farm (still building that too...I can haz no money). It needs a bit of TLC and I want to purtify it too.

So I have been hunting down part numbers for things like filters (air, fuel, oil, hydraulic, HST) so that when I need them, I know what to ask for at the store. I have tracked down numbers for all of them (I have the manual that came with the tractor, but not the huge one) but several (oil, fuel, hydraulic) I've found multiple numbers for and I THINK I have the right ones for the rest, but different places show different things.

So -- for everything except the HST filter, I have the 7 or 8 digit Ford number that I got from the New Holland website. However, some have "SBA" longer number (HST, fuel, and oil filters) that I found going through the manual at Messick's, so there are two. NAPA was able to look up the air/oil filters with the Ford numbers and have the part (hopefully right, haven't picked it up yet). Haven't tried the rest yet.

(1) What the what is up with the numbers and are the SBA numbers just something that Messick's uses?

(2) Where do you get your filters and parts?

We do have a local good tractor place, they will do work on any brand, but he's a MF guy so those are the parts he regularly stocks. I assume he could order parts for me (he has for BF's 8N) but he's a very old (polite and nice) guy and is one of those who usually only speaks in grunts and "yes, ma'am" or "no, ma'am." Nothing wrong with that, but since he doesn't know me very well (yet), pulling information out is...a job!

Oh, and piccie for fun b/c I'm already obsessed with it and owner is never getting it back, I'm hiding all the keys.

The tractor was built by Shibaura with Ford. The SBA number is the Shibaura # with an SBA prefix so they could be identified in the Ford New Holland system. When Fiat bought the tractor line from Ford, they started using their 8 digit numbering system which you see alot of the SBA numbers change to.
A lot of the auto parts stores will usually cross the older SBA numbers iv they cross at all.

Ohhhhhh, thank you!!! That makes sense -- NAPA was able to cross the Ford numbers for oil and air filters, so I at least found those. This information will complete my puzzle. Thanks again!!!
