I'm completing my front cover/ timing cover on my 97 f150 with a 4.2 v6. Will start tomorrow getting parts tonight. I was going to go to oreilly for gaskets, thermostat, water pump, tensioner, motif ball joint, timing chain etc.

Truck has 130xxx miles. Found out oreilly has ball joints for less made by moog

Bought timing cover gasket set with water pump gasket as well, water pump with lifetime warranty, oreilly brand greasable control arm for drivers side as I did passengers side a few months ago, 192F thermostat, tensioner and idler pulleys, just about the only problem is locating a timing chain

I like Rock Auto if you have a little time, say 3 days before you need the parts on hand. Great prices, great selection of brands, super web site. O'Reilly seems to be the best though if you have to have the parts 'right now'.

I like Rock, too. Locally, I use Advance Auto Parts because you can order on line and use a discount code to get 20% off.

Having Large trouble locating a timing chain for a 97/ f150/ 4.2 v6. Might have to order from advanced auto and receive tomorrow.

BIG problem found out the previous owner had someone TRY to repair this!!! Two broken heads in the head already. Drivers side/ front of head. CAREFULLY with experienced technician of 25+ years had him heat the exposed area with a torch and I was able to start moving one of the broken bolts with a pair of vice grips. The other one came out with a ton of work and pliers. Lots of work. Will keep you guys posted. Big job here with the broken bolts in a aluminum head

We had a bolt break inside the cast aluminum mount for the air conditioning compressor. I was able to weld material and a large nut to it and remove it !!!! Very awesome!! I have lots of experience on 220v mig welders
