Has anyone found a good source for CUB parts via the internet with good prices and service? Every place that I have found has some, but not all parts for my 2186.
I haven't looked up your model to see how old it is, but my 2160 is an early model from 1995 or 96. After carefully reviewing the total price (part plus delivery), I've made my last few purchases directly from Cub Cadet online. So far, they've had everything I've needed and the delivered prices beat Messicks.
You always need to shop around for the best price. I did a quick check on a PTO clutch for you machine as an example and Carter & Gruenewald was $270, Messicks $264 and direct from Cub Cadet $291. These prices are without the shipping. But if I had picked a different part the results could have been totally different.
The Cub Cadet website was very easy to navigate and find the parts I needed. However the prices are not cheap. Hydraulic hose was $41 from Cub Cadet and I had one made for $12. Only thing was it doesn't have the outer protection sleeve. I added a pice of hose to cover the area that rubs on the loader arm and problem solved. Cub Cadet also takes a long time to ship once the order has been placed. For me that means that every time I would have to order I lose two weeks because I only see my tractor on the weekends.
Mark, that's been my experience with my 2544 as well (basically the same machine as yours). eBay or special order thru a dealer is an unfortunate reality for some parts.
There should be very few instances when this is the case. With a $3 part or somthing, I can see that. For anything thats a descent cost we should be cheaper. Cub Cadet add's a extra profit margin to those parts to keep from angering dealers who don't sell online.
