parts question for the 1500

ok so another question, somebody told me today that the 1500 was a "grey market" tractor and id have a hard time finding parts..?? any truth to this?? if there is truth to this how do i tell if one is "grey" or not?

Yes, it is a grey market tractor. I think you will find parts are just as available for it as any other 30 year old tractor. I don't think you will find any difference in the parts available for a US sold or grey market. You can browse here and get a good idea what is available for the 1500. One of the more populous greys. Yes its a gray, not a model that Yanmar-USA ever sold here.

The good news is that there are so many of them that there is an active 3rd-party parts market supporting the grays. So its not an orphan like, for example, the Shibaura-built Ford small tractors.

As has been said , there are a number of parts suppliers out there. Most parts shouldn't be a problem getting. I mentioned to you in another post that it was a grey. Mine is also a grey . Probably most of the members here have grey Yanmars. Don't let the term "GREY" deter your decision to buy if it's a good tractor & fits your needs

Parts are readily available (as others have already stated) for most of the 'grey' market Yanmar tractors. There are several aftermarket sources of parts for the 1500. I recently refurbished my YM1500D and had good success in getting the parts that I needed. Most of my tractor specific parts came from Parker Equipment Company in Thorsby, AL. Seals and bearings were purchased from companies that specialize in those areas and offered substantial savings over the aftermarket sources.

Not sure that applies to the 1500 model. I have a red one with the same side filter. Also it's the only one Hoye shows. Are you referring to the green side panel?
