Pat\'s easy change system on Kubota 5030.

Has anyone used Pats easy change system on a Kubota 5030, thinking about purchasing a quick three point hitch attachment. Any suggestion would be appreciated, most of the equipment is Bushhog brand.

I have a 5030 and a number of attachments. The 5030 has telescoping lower arms that make hook up really easy. I have never felt the need for a quick hitch or other "easy change" system. I find hook-ups pretty easy already. Why do you feel you need one?

John,

My Bushhog model 70-06 blade is a pain to hook up and I use it quite often to cut swales on our road and the community road. After using the blade I will hookup the rake and smooth things out. I thought for cost of Pats system or something similar it would make the process easier. I also like to use my Bushhog rotary cutter in to clear heavy brush and then drop it and put on the heavy blade or rake to grade out the area. I work a lot and don't get enought seat time so the time saved changing implements can be used fop property maintenance.

I thought that hook-ups were a real pain at first, I now have hydraulic top and tilt and this makes the hookups much easier. In fact nothing has to be exactly lined up since I can adjust the hydraulics from the back of the tractor. I have a rubber dead blow mallet hanging from the rear ROPS cross bar in case I need to tap a lower arm onto the pin. I found that I spent most of my time looking for the clevis pins, so I now have a complete set on every implement. That way they are right at hand. The only thing that Pat's does for you is remove the need to move the lower arms to the side to get them over the pins. This is a minor issue in my opinion.

Re: Pat\'s easy change system on Kubota 5030.

I got Pat's system for my 5030 and have used it for about 3 weeks now. True, the extensions make it more convient for hooking up. In my case, however, I have a couple of pieces of equipment that are a pain to hook up. One is a 4 row bedder converted to a 3 pt hitch and I removed all shanks but one, installed a chisel point and LOTS of weight on one end for purposes of makeing a pipe trenching tool. Works grand, but very hard to hook up and unhook... took lots of 3lb sledge hammer work.... much improved with Pat's system. Also, I have a 3 pt hay fork with carry-all platform on it and lots of weight to counter balance the FEL. I too have a hydraulic top link and 3 pt lift that I can operate from the rear of the tractor... even so, Pat's system is a big help to me. It is very well made. Also, adds some length to the lower 3pt arms, which I needed...

Now, with both Pat's system and hydraulic top link and the adjustable extension arms, I no longer dread hooking up some implements... and save lots of time doing so by myself as well.

I think it all depends on your implements, frequency of changing them, and their ease of hook-up.

Texas John,

Which model to purchase Cat. 1 or 2 ? I am going to order a set and give them a try. And by the way how do like your 5030? I only have 60 hours on mine and love it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Pat\'s easy change system on Kubota 5030.

If you have only Cat 1 implements and never expect to move up, then Cat 1 is fine.

I had both. The Cat 2 PATS system can accept a Cat 1 pin if you use a bushing. Half if my equipment is Cat 1. He has washers/shims in both sizes.

My recommendation... Cat 2.

I'll PM you re my 5030 experiences... am preparing a post with photos but not quite there yet.
