Is anyone using Pats QH with a KK 48" tiller? It looks like it would be a very tight fit, but might make it.

You may be using 2 different hitch names together.
Pat's is the Easy Change, just see the ads on this site. No reason the KK tiller , or any other Cat-1 device wouldn't fit using Pat's. (I have the 48" KK tiller, by the way).

The QH, or the Quick Hitch differs from Pat's system. It's the big bulky steel frame that you semi-permanently mount to your existing 3PH.

I am using the Quick Hitch I procured from HarborFreight. You are right, it is a tight fit with the KKII 48" gear drive tiller.
A lot of folks, including me, used a bottle jack to spread the lower coupling points on the QH, in order to fit some of the implements that were just a hair too wide at the pins. I had to spread mine, at most, about 1/2".

Pat's system allows you to still use the lateral swing you have in your lower linkage arms, allowing for a wider variety of widths of implement pins.

Pat will stop by this thread and correct me if I have mis-spoken.

The QH is the cheaper way to go, but, it also has some inherant issues that you may have to deal with, like the lower-pin-width issue.

Thanks for the reply. Guess I should have just said Pat's. The issue is that there is 1 1/4" of steel on the Pat's unit in front of the groove where the pin sits. There is about 1 1/4" of area on the KK between the back side of the pin and the body of the KK. So, it's going to be very tight if it does fit. If anyone does have this setup, I'm interested in how much clearance there is, and when the arms move the tiller up/down if there is any binding.

N1ST,

The width of the hook (side to side) is 1-1/4", but from the front of the hook to the "J" opening is less than an inch. More like 3/4". I hope this makes sense. If you could call me maybe I could explain better. Toll free 888-243-4204. You shouldn't have any problem at all with your tiller.

I have used my Pat's setup with a 60" KK tiller with no problem.

Pat,

I understand what you're saying and feel better. I sent an email (perhaps to you) and was told that front to U was 1 1/4", but it sounds like there was a misunderstanding.

Thanks

N1ST,

Sorry about the misunderstanding. When most people ask about width they want side to side. but now I understand you wanted front to back of the hook. My bad.
