I used a turnbuckle with rod, marked the two spots where the turnbuckle needed to be for each attachment and that way it keeps everything nice and snug. I love PATS.

Just ordered PQA. Supposed to get it Friday. I have several implements, all with significant width variances. The system I bought includes the optional spreader bar. Tractor Mike (asktractormike.com) had a video on the system, and one of the tips was to mark the spreader bar, for each width that you need so you can pre-adjust it, before backing up to the implement.

I too, have a 2538, and look forward to using PQA. My PTO shaft on the implements seem to have plenty of additional length, as does my top 3 pt link. I assume your top link is the same as mine. Some of my implements have adjustable top link hook ups as well.

To me, it's not a big deal to hook up the top link manually, as I usually hook up the PTO before I hook up the top link anyway, for additional head room.

Based on other's experiences here, I think it will be a great system to use. We'll see.

I have the spreader bar also, but another way to get the width variances set easily, is to use individual pieces of 3/8" re-bar, with the ends of each piece bent to set a specific width.

Got my PQA installed today and tried it on a couple of implements. Works great, as long as you have the spreader bar set appropriately. And you need to make sure your lower arms are level. But other than that, it will save a lot of stress on my knees getting on and off the tractor a few times every time I want to hook up something.

Funny, I never noticed before, but my finish mower has adjustable lower arm lengths, so a PTO adapter should not be necessary. I've had the mower for a year or so, and just noticed this feature...(see what happens when you get old?)

:duh:

We have the PQA on our MX5800. It has telescoping lift arm ends but IMO hooking up to attachments is much easier with the PQA. We also had it on our L3800. On our MX5800, the lift arms are Category 2. All of our attachments are either Cat 1 or can accommodate both Cat 1 and Cat 2. As a result, we bought the version of the PQA that fits Cat 2 lift arms but is Cat 1 on the attachment end. Works well. We too had to get a longer top link for both the L3800 and the MX5800.

I didn't buy the bar, but keep a 3 ft steel tape measure in the glove box and use as needed. My model, (B2650), has the adjustable 3 pt lift arms which deleted the need for the bar IMO. On the B2620 I have the QA from Land Plane which is a lot more expensive....but it has the turnbuckle lift arms. I guess the Harbor Freight QA etc. would have been quite less expensive.
