I got my BX24 about 6 weeks ago, and in the time that I have free, I've been working on putting in a paver walkway out front of my house. Here's a link to the progress I've made so far.

Paver Walkway Project

Neil, I hope you don't mind your picture's out there. :D

We built our house four years ago and have been without a walkway the whole time. When we started looking into the costs of having one put in and the cost of doing it ourselves and renting equipment and then also started factoring in the fact that we have loads of other pending projects, we realized getting a BX24 was the solution to it all. It's proving to be absolutely true. The walkway that we're putting in now would have cost about $15,000 to have put in. Not only is it about money though, but also the joy and satisfaction of being self-sufficient and doing things ourselves.

One of the joys of having such a tractor is sitting in shorts, t-shirt, and sandals while getting lots of work done. :) But, I give in and put on more suitable footware when I'm working off the tractor.

No geotextile fabric under the stone?

The engineer weighing in: Only necessary if the area in question is on a steep slope and there is a chance of water "running" under the sidewalk, carrying fines (dirt and the cementing small bits of aggregate) away. He's actually going overboard putting stone in there at all. Would be fine with a sand base if he wanted. Looks good to me. Except for the shoes. But somebody already got that one. Like driving a car without a seatbelt...just feels naked.

Seriously, get those boots on that you had in Step 3... I'd even settle for sneakers. Those sandals are a fool's paradise, son. Imagine how short-lived your joy once you're all gimpy after cracking a toe on the stabilizer, and that's the least of what could happen. Not to mention sandals on a tractor just looks dorky :)
Keep up the good work...can't wait to see the "rest" of the pics.

Ray, Don't take it too hard about the sandals. If I had to I'd drive mine barefoot it's so much fun.:D

I still got all my toes and I've run all sorts of stuff barefoot. Really just started wearing shoes most the time the last 10 years or so. Them "workboots" are just false security.:D

Geofabric: Nah, I figured it's not necessary. But I figured this after reading this and remembering I forgot to think about it. But, from my understanding, the weeds and things that grow actually grow in the sand that's between and under the pavers, not from the ground 10-12" below.

As for the shoes, I put on mocassins when I split wood or buck trees. :p No, seriously, I have boots that I wear when I'm doing work that doesn't involve sitting in a seat with a nice chilly beverage in a cup holder next to me! I still practically come to tears of joy when I think about or operate my BX!
