Well our peach and pear tree planted last Feb. are now blooming.
Great right? well not sure, maybe someone can help out with advice.

The pear tree suffered from brown spots last year and as fall continued I removed all infected leaves.
Well now the fresh new baby leaves have brown spots also......so what is a rookie like me to do.

What spray, root treatment etc needs to happen.
Yes, I did a search and got overwhelmed with a lot of professional garden info of using chemicals I never heard of.
Guess what I'm looking for is someone here in South Texas dealing with this can lend a seasoned hand.

Thanks!

You should first identify the disease/pest, then seek the treatment. Sometimes it's a bit confusing as to when to apply treatments once you identify the problem, too.

Got any pictures of the leaves?

My pear trees all got fire blight, brown spots on the leaves that eventually kill the leaves and the tree. I sprayed with all kinds of fungicide and insecticide but to no avail. I kept trimming off the blighted leaves but the trees eventually died. Cherry trees also affected by the blight.

I have an orchard of about 45 assorted fruit trees. After years of trial and error, I am having good results using three different sprays at different times of the growing season.

Lime sulfur- used only in the dormant stage, usually in January and February.

Captan- a fungicide, spayed every three weeks or so, for leaf spot, mildew etc.

Sevin- once the fruit starts ripening, to combat ants, earwigs, other unwelcome bugs.

Also, I highly recommend sterilizing your pruning tools in bleach solution before moving to the next tree, to prevent carrying diseases from one tree to the next. This lesson Learned the hard way.

Thanks, I'll make a trip to my feed store and see if they stock it. In fact have two feed stores.

BTW, I see you sprayed every three weeks. Would it be too aggressive to spray twice a week? At least to stem the new growth from getting those brown spots on the leaves?

Not yet.....been bowed up, won't bore you with details.
Should get pics Sunday.
So far all I know is they have perfect round brown spots and then the leaf withers.
For now am pulling the off and will spray with Bonide, until I get some Captan.
I'll stop by and see my local AG agent see what he has to offer for a solution as well.

Thanks...see yah tomorrow....

Looks like a bacterial leaf spot. Buy I'm no expert. Best to get those pics to your local extension agent asap. Good luck. From what I've read, I believe I have the same thing on my apricot and nectarine trees. They are doomed. I'm cutting them down this spring and buying resistant strains of trees.
