Hello,

Haven't been here in a while since we sold our tractor but have been looking at the 4150H. Then I stumbled on a 4040H that was priced where I couldn't pass it up. Since the engines in the tractors from 40HP to 55HP are the same, one can only assume that it is the mapping of the ECU that makes the difference. Has anyone purchased an ECU for the higher HP and did it work? Any other thoughts on tweaking for more HP?

Thanks!

If you are talking XR models, the XR4040H has a Shibarua N844L-F engine. The XR4150H uses an LS L3C19-T engine. So I doubt an ECU swap would work.

Another consideration here might be the frames. Are they the same from 40-55hp? If not, can a frame made for a 40hp engine handle 55hp? It doesn't seem like a lot, but 37.5% is a significant increase.

I have wondered this since my manual has an XR3135 and an XR3140 listed. Specs in the back as far as the engine seem the same other than the HP. Since its common rail I figure its probably just a tuning change.

Dealer had it for service and had a factory rep check it out while he was visiting and put in the latest update.

I said feel free to put the 40hp one in haha. But to no avail. I cant actually find anywhere listed that they sell an XR3140. Perhaps in other countries.

The XR4040 and 4046, XU55 and 65, XU5055 and 5065 all share the Shibaura 2.2L 4 cyl. engine.
Even though the engines are all 2.2L 4 cyl. they and the ECU's for each model all have different part numbers.

I doubt the average homeowner has the money or test equipment to buy and swap an ECU or whatever other parts need to be changed and then a Dyno to test the HP on a tractor that may not be out of warranty yet. I doubt a dealer would be willing to try either.

you are exactly right....the 4000 series is a 4 cylinder and the 4100 series is a 3 cylinder turbo. different engines. my XR 4145 regens approx every 50 hours and the older one much more frequently.
