Perka Steel Frame

I know that people have posted on this in the past. I have gone through the past posts. I want to see if there has been any further experiences. I'm interested in building an open span building that looks like a traditional New England barn on the outside. I'm thinking of Perka steel trusses with wood purlins and gurts. My thoughts are to sheathe the sidewalls and use board and batten siding. I'm also thinking of sheathing the roof and using traditional shingles. I'm also thinking about a 12 over 12 pitch on the roof rather than the standard 3 over 12. Any experiences with Perka?

PS I have talked to sales at Miracle Truss and was extremely put-off by their high pressure tactics.

While perusing thier web site I noticed a model similar to the Gambrel roof style you seem interested in. Here's a link to them. They say that if you can sketch it they can make it.

Although I've never used thier product I can't see that they would be any different than the others out there except for service and such. Your thoughts are similar to the building style I'm wanting to put on my place in Tn.

I was thinking of something about 30 or 40 x 60 or 70 with the loft area serving as possible office/storage space.

Have you had any luck with the perka? I found them on Ebay initially. I tried to get some information directly from perka as outlined in their Ebay bid. They were auctioning off the exact size frames I needed in a quantity of 4, I need 5. Instead I got contacted by their New England Rep. I only wanted the frames and he only wanted to do turnkey buildings. I couldn't get a quote for just the frames. And his quote including engineering blueprints, was more than miracletruss! I had business in the midwest, I was trying to stop and trailer the frames back myself but I couldn't get an answer quick enough. I even went back to Perka to see if they were interested in more NE reps but no replies. Now I am probably headed to Oklahoma City in the spring, they have a fabricator close to OKC who makes generic truss frames, so I am trying to get a catalog. If you need the NE reps email, I may still have it here somewhere.
