Hi all,
I have a very old perkins AD4.203 which uses head studs / nuts and a 1976 AD4.203 which uses head bolts.
Can any one advise me why they changed??
The reason I ask is that I have read that on the older engines they used to suffer with head threads "popping" ie the top 3 or 4 threads pulling out. The fix was to tap the threads to 1 inch down and use longer studs?
I cannot but any longer studs, so I want to change to bolts, can I do this??
The torque stated on studs is 60 lbs ft and on bolts 70 lbs ft
Is this the correct torque?
many thanks
