I am 78 and have been retired 20 years, living here with my wife of 52 years in the stackwall house that we built (are building!) and loving living in god's country. Our property is 21 acres plus adjoining property owned by relatives and some partially by us. This is cottage country; meet three cars on the way to town and it must be tourist season.
My lanes add up to over 300 m (1000 ft). Four years ago I bought a Craftsman 24 HP lawn tractor with a snowblower attachment which goes on by Nov 1 and off in mid April. Normally, I can clean all my lanes in 2 hours. However, this year we are getting far more snow that we have experienced the last few years. Recently we had heavy snow followed by freezing drizzle. This put down a layer of very heavy snow with a crust on top, making it heavy work for the snow blower.
This country is beautiful. Although we pay taxes to Peterborough County, we are on the edge of Haliburton and do most of our business there. We regularly see deer, moose, bear as well as many smaller mammals. The changing seasons mean that we see several different landscapes without moving.
