Chipper PGF Chippers

In searching for forums, I've found quite a few threads on the Jinma Chippers. I've been seriously considering buying a PTO chipper but was looking at the PGF chipper from Northern Tool. It's quite a bit more expensive than the Jinma, listing right at $5K but it also looks a lot heavier; something over 900# shipping weight.
Does anyone have any experience with this model chipper?

Ralph I am looking at Wallenstein and bearcat you might consider looking at them,3pt self feed.

I'm researching the bear cat and woods chippers. Jinma might be a nice unit but I want 4 knifes and a 275# flywheel for the larger stuff.

Purchased a Salsco 627 last Spring, this after borrowing my neighbors Valby. I am completely satisfied with the Salsco. The design is excellent, with no belts, etc. to adjust or break. This chipper should last a lifetime with just a little maintenance. Worth checking out.

I just ordered a Salsco Chipper, 6 inch, with hydraulic feed, and am waiting for the phone call to tell me it has arrived at the trucking depot. It seemed to be the better built of the ones I looked at.

If you order it direct, it will cost you less, but you'll have to pay for the shipping.

I emailed Salsco yesterday. I had one questionon the hydr. feed that I did not get answered. Is the hydraulic feed powered by on onboard pump, or is is connected to the tractor's hyraulics?

From what I could tell, they make models that employ each method.

Most of their models use the tractor's hydraulics though, if I'm not mistaken.

The 810 has a self-contained hydraulic power supply.

Here is the information that I was sent:

Salsco 6" hydraulic feed wood chippers all have extra wide openings so that you don't have to do any trimming. The Model 826PTO is hydraulic feed, 6" high x 12" wide opening at the infeed. This unit does not require hydraulic oil from your tractor, it is fully self contained, and sells for $8124.00.

The Model 627XT is the hydraulic feed version of the Model 627. It is a dual feed unit, with flow control to control the infeed rate. It will require oil from your tractor, and it sells for $5374.00.

Speed Sensing, which monitors the RPM of the Impeller, is available as an option for both units. $763.00.

If you are planning on chipping 6" round wood continually, and maybe even going a little larger, you might want to consider the model 6210XT - 10" Round Wood Capacity, which, is the dual hydraulic feed version of the Model 6210. It also requires oil from your tractor, and sells for $7872.00. Speed Sensing is also available for this unit at $763.00

I ordered the 627XT, and is supposed to be in this coming Thursday, and I'll let you know more after I have had a chance to play with it.
