I came across some pictures which I took as i was buying my property. (Date stamp said Dec. 12, 2000) The two pictures are both looking down the old woods road which is now my driveway. It's amazing how much the trees have grown. The orange stripes indicate trees which I have removed.

Thanks for posting.

I had been meaning to post some "then and now" photos of some of my loblolly pines. Your thread has spurred me into action.:)

This photo was taken in November of 2004 and is of pines that were planted in January 2001. I was able to mow between the 8' rows with my 6' cutter until 2003, but the branches had closed in by 2004.

This photo is of the same tract and was taken in September of 2008.

This photo is of the same plantation tract and was taken in July of 2014. The trees are now 30'+ tall and I hope to have them thinned for the first time in another 4-5 years.

Here are some "then and now" photos of my other plantation tract -- this one was planted early in 1990.

The tract was thinned for the first time in August/September of 2008.

This photo is before that thinning.

The loggers took out every fourth row and selected lower-quality trees in the remaining rows as shown below.

The thinning allowed undergrowth to flourish as shown in this photo from November 2012.

I contracted with the NC Forest Service to conduct a controlled burn on the tract in November 2012.

The tract was thinned for the second time in July 2014. The loggers took out about 45% of the trees remaining after the first thinning.

Nice. You guys down there can grow trees much faster than we can. (And if it doesn't stop snowing, I'm going to burn all of mine for heat. )
