I have an EZ-GO Workhorse 1200 that won't start. Need to move it over to the shop to work on it. It looks like I could come in from the side with my pallet forks and just pick it up. I cant see anything underneath that is in the way but thought I would ask the brain trust here if I am missing something?

Has any one handled these this way? I can't get to it to pick it up from the front and the bed overhangs too far for balence I think.

I think I would tow it, instead. Lots of little lines and wires under there.....

I'd agree with Jeff. Put it in neutral (shifter vertical, between forward and reverse) or take the belt off and tow it.

Just won't start or did it quit on you? (I've got a WH800)

It won't start. The problem started with the accelerater pedal not coming back to neutral. The battery started running down then a few days ago it wouldn't start even with the battery charger hooked up to the battery. I suspect some trash jammed into the linkage under the floor and/or a failed microswitch. To get to it all you have to fold back the floor mat and remove a cover plate. My EZ-GO came from a golf drining range and has a protective cage on it. I will have to jack the cage up on the left side or remove it to free the floor mat. Wanted to move it to the shop to get out of the hot sun and to have a hard surface to work from.

My son and grandson are coming to visit this next weekend so I will probably wait and have them push it over. Have to get some work out of them.

P.S. By won't start I mean won't crank. It could be a bad battery will have to get it checked.

If you decide to tow it, don't go over 15MPH. I'm on few golfcart forums and have a 92 Club Car and a 86 Ez-Go Marathon and I know your not suppose to go very fast when towing.

There was nothing under my EZGo cart (not Workhorse) ande is nothing under my newer Yamaha that could be harmed. And, I know a prior owner of my EZGo loaded it with a fork lift. Although they are real easy to tow or push. Agree with Av8r, rolling the belt off is super easy and protects the engine and eliminates most all drag ... umm, unless somebody put a short "torquer" belt on it ...

The last owner coulda put a Yamaha belt on it for more torque. maybe that's why it's hard to take off.

Thanks for all the comments! Solved my problem - it was the battery with an internal short.

I checked with the dealer of used golf carts that I bought my EZ-GO from and he uses a fork lift to load and unload carts all the time.

Glad you got it fixed. I move my Ez-Go Marathon around all the time with the forklift. But, I'm not too worried about hurtin it anyways. It's already fallen off 3 times. LOL
