I did quite a bit of research and have decided on the 425 as opposed to a 1430 or anything else. The decision was driven by three reasons.
1. The total cost. I could afford the 1430, but nothing else. For the difference in cost between the 425 and 1430, I could do a lot of skid loader renting if I need a tractor for a BIG job.
2. Maneuverability. smaller, smaller, smaller...
3. Sharing attachments. This is not a reality yet, but there are at least two other 425 owners in my area who have some really cool attachments. We might possibly start a co-op! (Thanks for the idea Moss)
So, here’s what I am getting.
PT 425
4 in 1 Bucket
10 CF Light Material Bucket
Pallet Forks
Mini Hoe
Potato Digger
Stump Grinder
Blank Fixture
Some oil filters
I have a little left over and thought about the snow blade. I have one for my ATV, but it does not angle like the PT does, (at least without getting off the ATV). I think I might sell that one and get the blade and rubber bottom (if that is worth getting).
So, I will be driving down to Tazwell and will bring my camera to take some pictures of the manufacturing site and “play area”. I want to drive a 1430 and maybe one other of the large tractors just to get a feel for what they are like as a comparison, but my mind is made up for the right reasons.
Thanks to all of you guys for helping me work through this process. Some times I wonder how you do not get tired of it, but then it is obvious that there is a passion on here for the PT tractors and that is part of what drew me to them in the first place.
So as of Friday, I will be part of the PT Brotherhood… Maybe I should start a board about that?? Nahh…. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
