Hi all. The tractor is a 2010 model, 100 hours now. I bought it new, and picked the dealer because he would source and install the thumb inside my budget. He told me that MF does not offer a thumb option, one had to be modified to fit. Really useful tool, I live in the land of basketball sized rocks. Fletcher is a lad down the road, 15 years old and had 20 minutes of practice before the video was shot. It must be those video games...

I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but watching you drive over the uneven dirt with the bucket raised like that made me nervous. Not that you were going to fall over right then, just that if you regularly drive with the bucket raised, you might fall over some day.

Hi,

I'd be inclined to shut the revs down to help stop the jerkyness of the back hoe. You only need enough revs to operate the hydraulics so that the back hoe operates correctly, anything more is a waste.

Good points. The video shows the ground as more uneven than it really was, but more care is required. We were running the revs at about 2000 to get the power for some of the larger rocks, and operator smoothness was a bit lacking.

F.Y.I. , I use my home made thumb with the BH bucket all the time, but I have found out while placing large rocks along the driveway it is a real good practice to have enough weight in the FEL bucket when moving with the rock, :cool2:. KC :thumbsup:
