Pics missing in 6 month old threads?

I was reading about someone building their own implement, and they were describing the pictures they'd uploaded, and others were commenting about how good things looked, but there were no pics, not even a missing pic icon or anything. It is much less helpful to read older content when the pics disappear. Frustrating to be interested in something and not be able to see it. I understand that it's difficult to keep pics around forever, but 6 months?

Perhaps the pix were of the "linked" variety. Where they were in a photobucket account, and the person deleted them?

I believe James has nailed it. AFAIK, photos included as attachments are "permanent" unless deleted by the poster.

Also, some of the "free" online accounts are deleted unless you decide to pay to have the account renewed.

We cannot determine what the cause is without a link to the specific thread you are referring to.

Photobucket linked pics will also not show up if the account holder does not log into Photobucket for a certain amount of time.

Usually PhotoBucket missing pics show a missing image placeholder (because PhotoBucket still wants us to click on the "kitty-cat" image and go to their site, even if it isn't the photo we were hoping to see.) This thread simply has no images, when it obviously used to have them.

Facebook probably changed their link and that broke the pictures. That is why TBN lets you upload your pictures to TBN because then they will stick around.
