pics of 1910 ford.

Hi,here is a picture of the 1910 I had recently.1200 hours,1986.If I can I will squeeze-in a second photo showing a cut wire sticking out from the transmission cover...anybody knows what is it for? Hydraulic oil temp sender I can think of but there is no guage for it!Reverse light maybe?

I have a Ford 1900 and I don't have that wire on mine. That metal tube next to it does have wires that go to the back lights on the tractor. And that ground wire looks like it was added to that bolt. I'd bet that's the wire that goes to the cut one. Someone probably modified it for some reason. Maybe to keep the backup light on all the time ? If you have a owners manual you might find the wiring diagram in there and it should say what it's for.

I looked at the NH website very briefly and it did not explain what that wire was for the column shift transmission. It is not difficult to take a cover off for a looksy. I don't venture to guess but it were very important probably you would have known by now

Yes its a safety swictch wire according a shop manual.I have not tried starting it while in gear yet...

Its a safety,so it wont start with the column shift trans in gear,There WAS a steel plate over it,that attached at a nearby bolt,over the years someone pulled it,and never replaced it....There is no safety on the floor shift trans,it can start in any gear or N.
