I am new to replacing all the fluids on my KAMA 454. Looking in the manual gets confusing on where all the drain plugs are and where to fill. Has anyone put togther a list of pics relating to all the drain plugs and fill plugs to change out the fluids in a KAMA 454?

Thanks...Rich

To my knowledge Rich, no. There are not actually too many of us that frequent this forum. But I'm more than willing to give you whatever pointers I've accumulated since buying my 2004 model. Shoot me an email

Hi Rich,
I have a 2005 Kama 554. I believe a lot of the components, especially the drive train, gear boxes, front end etc are the same as your 454. I have posted some threads about general maintenance and pictures as well. The title of each thread pretty much tells what it's about.
They might come in handy for you. At least a place to start looking.:)

I started to change out the Transmission and Transfer case oils...Are there any problems with using the NAPA Tractor Transmission and Hydralulic fluid for the refill? Also....I removed the fill cap behind the seat that has the small dip stick on it. I noticed that I started to get overflow out of the two fill plugs that are on the Transmission and the transfer case when I filled the back seat hole. Plus it seemed to take ALOT of oil. This doesnt seem right. Should I have filled behind the seat? Seems like its all the same section as the Transmission.

Thanks for the help.....Rich

If you're thinking of using a UTF (Universal Tractor Fluid), no. The way these tractors are engineered, you should use regular hydraulic fluid for the hydraulics (three point hitch, steering, loader, etc) - and gear oil for the gears (tranny & differentials).

The fill/vent behind the seat is for hydraulic fluid. The fill plugs on the top in front of the seat are for gear oil - as is the top plug on the front differential. The respective capacities are listed in your owner's manual

But if you're getting overflow out of the front holes while filling through the back hole, you've got a definite problem. The hydraulic sump is leaking into the rear differential for some reason.

What Greg said.
Use gear oil for the trany and transfer case. The fill caps on those have dipsticks on them and they are by your shift levers on top of those cases.
Hydraulic fluid for the hydraulic box and the fill cap is behind the seat. Filling that should not fill the transmission or transfer case! Do you have a picture?
