Here is what I have been working on for the last few weeks.
Neighbor gave me an old snow plow blade off the front of a truck.
And I converted it to connect to a 3 point hitch.
Here it is hooked up to my 1949 8N. It pulls it like a champ.

The blade is 6 feet wide and about 14 inchs high.
Cost me $175 in steel and about $60 to get it welded.
Then a few items such as bolts and hitch pins.
And I went thru a bunch of cut-off wheels for the angle grinder.
But that is the only way I have to cut metal.
I figure I have about $250 in it total.
I couldn't buy one built this well for 3 times that much.
This thing is built to be indestructable.

I have already used it a few times and I'm real happy with it.
Now it just needs to be painted.

Nicely done. It looks like you also have a pivot for the blade to angle it also. How much you think it weighs???

Bear your blade looks pretty nice to me. Just be vigilant that you don't grab an immovable object with one of the ends of the blade or you'll find out just how indestructible it really is.

I would guess the weight is somewhere around 350 to 400 pounds.

The blade will pivot 360 degrees.

I doubt catching an inmovable object would hurt the blade
but it would sure do some damage to the tractor and possibly me.
Before now everything I had was 5 foot width.
Still trying to get used to that little bit extra sticking out.

Bear how did you end up drilling the holes for the pivot plate? How about a close-up shot of the pivot mechanism?

Nothing beats a good rear blade!! As for indestructable, I've broken 3pt lift arms on my old Jubilee Ford blading snow. A blade is very hard on itself and the tractor it's hooked onto. And there is no such thing as an indestructable blade. :)

Mornin Pooh,
Nice job and it looks pretty rugged ! You gonna paint it the same color as the Ford ?

Enjoy !

I'll probably paint it red with implement paint.
Just about all my other stuff is red.

Here is a closeup of the pivot mechanism.
I used a one inch drawbar hitch pin for the pivot pin.
And a one inch bolt for the holes to set the angle.

And this is a closeup of the front where it attaches to the tractor.
What you see is .5x3 flat steel, 2x2x.25 and 3x3x.25 and 4x4x.25 square tube.
The round pivot plate on the back is 20 inches diameter by 3/8 thick.
The one inch holes were drilled with a one inch bi-metal hole saw.
The other 4 holes for the lower link pins and the top link pin
were drilled with twist drills. Stepped 1/4 to 1/2 to 7/8.
I used about a quart and a half of cutting oil on this project.
The 4 bolts attaching the pivot plate to the rear of the blade are 1/2 inch.

Edited to add:
A 3D drawing of the pivot plate bracket is attached.
It shows better the underside of the bracket and the hole selections.
