Nice looking windmill. You have a great looking pond and that deck looks very inviting!!!

Is it for looks or do you have it running something? I thought about getting one to pump water into my lake, but the prices of them were more then I was willing to pay.

Thanks for the compliments folks it was a bit of a chore to assy. the tower by myself..

Eddie, the windmill pumps air into the pond. As the fan turns it compresses and releases an airbag (like the ones used on pickup trucks for additional payload) the air travles through ~1/2" tube to diffusser stone that makes bubbles in the bottom of the pond. The areation is supposed to keep the fish happy :D Here is the link if you want to check it out: http://www.pondaeration.com/

I also looked into windmills that pump water for the pond. The price was simply too much at this phase of the project, especially after spending $10K on a 650' water well..

Your project is looking great, when/if I ever get another 5th wheel I would like to camp at you place, that is if diesel is not up to $5.00 a gallon...

Very nice windmill. My question is did you design the dock. I am getting ready to build one on my pond and need some ideas. If you have more pictures that would be great if I could see them.

I put up my 32' Flint & Wahling Star 26 on Christmas day 1985. It was 35 degrees F out when I started and went to 10 when I had to bolt up the fan.

Mine is a 32' tower. Since the center of gravity of such a trangular tower is 10' up, my loader bucket was able to stand it up and shift it to the base mounts. Used a block & tackle to raise up the fan using a pole rope- wrapped to the top irons. That's when the temperature dropped.

This is a water pumper with a pump jack for running it when the mill is turned out. I have a JD hit 'n miss engine on a belt drive that can work the pump on calm days. Its still fun to climb it and take a view of my world from the tower platform. The deer don't look up, the dogs get freaked out, and the neighbors are waiting for me to bungee jump from it.

The other pic is a windmill museum in Indiana I visited a few years ago.

Hi Bubba, my buddy Joe "designed" the pier on a empty 12 pack box lol... I can tell you the hardest part is digging the holes while standing on the slope of the bank of the pond. I ended up borrowing a skid steer with a PHD made it a lot easier..

One good tip I have to offer is to use ratchet straps to draw the deck boards together tightly and keep them straight while screwing them down. They will shrink enough to have a nice gap in between them.

Here are some poor quality pics from my cell phone I can get the dimensions for you this weekend:

ZZVY, I wished I had the knowledge and money to install a windmill that pumps water, my limited research on the net showed some nice kits but they where expensive. Finding a used unit that needed repairing would be great but I would have no idea where to locate parts and manuals on how to repair..

Good job on your windmill.. I can tell ya you would not find my fat arse up on a windmill at those temps

The windmill museam is really neat, I would like to visit it sometime if I am ever in that area..

SMF: The windmill pumps air into the pond through a plastic tube ran behind one of the tower legs.
