Loader Piece of hyd level sightglass in trans case of L2800 HST

Part of the plastic sightglass is in my hyd case. I replaced with a new one because I noticed severe leaking from that spot. I don't know how long it's been in there- probably 3/4" dia. by 1/4" long (whatever in metric). I refilled hyd fluid. Am I okay to use tractor with piece floating around in there? I am out of hyd fluid. It's a holiday weekend and I need this tractor. I am too far from anywhere to get hyd fluid in order to drain system to find the piece. Shame on Kubota for this plastic design on the sightglass. The tractor only has 300 hrs on it. The "glass" must have been overtightened by dealer or manufacturer. Please help... I need seat time!

I am afraid to give a recommendation on this one. On one hand, it may have been floating around in there for 300 hours with no ill effect and it that is true then why worry about it for the short term and flush it out when you have more fluid and time. On the other hand, if it is a recent addition to the fluid resevoir it just might clog somewhere that cause a restriction or even makes itself more difficult to remove.

I don't know how to recommend other than to say if I were you and really thought it had been there for a while, I would be tempted to go ahead and work, but I would be super **** about noises and behavior of the tractor and hydraulics and ready to shut it down at the first "weirdness".

I for one would use tractor only really needed,for now its one piece could break into more smaller pieces and start moving around in system.

I'd drain the current fluid into clean containers, with an eye towards reusing it once I found the plastic piece ....

I wouldn't worry too much about a piece of plastic. The suction screen should keep the broken piece in the sump. It may not come out durring a draining of the resivoir anyway.

Sounds like you might have a leak in your return hose,you did state you have 300hr.s on tractor.Check out link below:
