HI guys well got quick question for ya. I have a 1990 kubota kh191 excavator it 60hp 13,500lbs. It has the old long lever controls( not pilot this was a option on them). These controls are ok but i would like to have pilot controls because thats what im use to running everyday on various hoes at work from the lil cat 320d to the big cat 5110 and hitachi ex1200. Anyways ive found a kubota kx61-2 machine thats been parted out. It has the valve banks and pilot valves. Now would this jus be simple swap? Build new consoles for pilot valves and mount valve banks somwhere and then hook everything up. And mount new pump low pressure pump for pilot system? And how much should i offer for these parts? He wants me make offer i know just new pilot valve is $700. Also these valves should work right? Even if its off smaller machine as long as its rated for same gpm and pressure?

I think you would also need a pilot pump for pilot controls otherwise you will end up taking oil flow away from the main pump and end up slowing the movment of your excavator. To fit a pilot pump you would probably have to change the main pump to a threw drive. Question,is the expence worth it?:2cents:

Yep i would prob have mount its on pilot pump for low pressure. Which shudnt be a problem because pilot controls was a option on it. So im sure it can drive a extra pump. If not i might be able to set it up if i repower with engine i have sitting around. The kubota engine now has cracked head which is common for them. Ive priced other machines and they are more than what i think i can update and build mine to suit me for. I want to stay around 14-16,000 lb machine, With wide steel tracks.

Well my service manual for the kh191 shows the pilot pump bolting on in tandem to pump 3 which is a 9.8gpm gear pump best i can tell. This pump drives off timing gear. Now pump 1 and 2 are flywheel driven and are 11.5 gpm best i can tell. The pilot control system uses the main hyd tank and basically same kinda valves and setup as the kx61 parts. I might also look into a bigger pump setup for the flywheel for more speed. The kx61. Runs 3 gear pumps 2 at 19.4gpm. I dont know if thats each or combined. And 1 aux pump at 11.9gpm
