All these choices but what do I need.

Recently added a 3rd remote valve on my Kubota 4330. The main intent was to install top and tilt and angle for my rear blade.

Years ago I put a tie rod type hydraulic cylinder on a heavy duty rear blade fed from a rear remote valve and it works great, speed is fine and keeps blade in position.

Fast forward to the top and tilt cylinders. The movement of these cylinders is very touchy in addition they don't hold their position very well.

Anyone know what I need to alleviate this problem? Also I am using 1/4" hose, not sure if this is an issue.

Thanks in advance.

Flow restrictors should take care of the sensitivity. As far as the cylinders not holding position, first thing to do is determine if the cylinders are faulty or if it's your control valve.

With the hitch adjusted and an implement attached, mark the cylinder rods at the seals.

Then disconnect the hose at the couplers.

Raise the hitch and see if the rods extend over a period of time. Typically 1/4" per hour would be acceptable.

If they extend quicker than the 1/4" per hour, then your seals are bad.

If they do not extend, then your control valve is at fault.

Either replace the valve with a better quality valve or get DPOCVs for the cylinders.

Something else to keep in mind is that larger dia cylinders are going to show control valve leakage at a slower rate.

Thanks for the quick reply Brian, hopefully the valves are not the problem since they are Kubota valves and one of them is brand new. The cylinders are new also.

So basically, raise the implement, mark the piston and disconnect the hoses. If implement drops then the seals are suspect.

Do I need 2 flow restrictors per cylinder? Would you give me a part number and pricing for these please. My hoses are 1/4" NPT.

You don't want to hear this, but I would bet $$ that it is the valves. For your sake I hope that I'm wrong, but Kubota doesn't have a real good track record with their rear remote valves on the L series tractors.

Go here to get your flow restrictors.

You should be able to get by with one on each rod end line, but I always provide one for each port.

Depending on the diameter of your cylinders, 2"gets .031. 2 1/2" gets .045 and 3" gets .062. I build my own into the port adaptors for a clean appearance, but you can use this type and just put them between the hose end and coupler and it should be fine.

You will need to drill out the .031 pieces to get the.045 if that's what you need.

Good luck:thumbsup:

You say that, but I have a sneaking suspicion at least 2 of the 3 rear remotes on my new L4060 leak like a sieve. Waiting on my TnT cylinders from Brian to confirm that. The several from my dealer were junk & most of the cylinders were pouring oil out externally. So I couldn't check valves for leakdown.

Well I took your advice and disconnected the cylinders from the tractor, marked the rods and then left for over 2 hours, neither cylinder dropped at all.

I had no idea that Kubota valves were that crappy. Guess that is what I get for adding the 3rd rear remote using factory parts.

Thanks for your help and BukitCase also.

Fallon, I didn't see your reply before I answered Brian but like I told him, I disconnected the bottom 2 remotes, left it that way over 2 hours and neither cylinder moved at all.

Tvman, if you don't mind, would you please post a couple of pictures of the new Kubota top & tilt units. I would like to see what they are supplying these days.

If not, no big deal, just wondering is all.
