I have some pine trees at the edge of my yard and everytime I cut grass I run over some of the shallow roots.If I remove some of these shallow roots will it kill my pine trees

The roots are the vanes and arteries of your tree. How many of yours can you remove before disaster strikes?

In my experience in digging up the stumps of pines, the ones near surface or either the ones holding it upright or there are other roots deeper down depending on variety of tree.

IMHO, I think you really should just cover them up with dirt/mulch. there is a reason why they are near the surface. make sure there is at least 1-2 inches dirt/mulch above the highest root if it will work with your landscape.

If the roots are beneath the dripline...I.e. the outer edge of the limbs they are critical. You aren't helping the tree by damaging those roots. I like the mulch suggestion
