Two days ago I started my L3410 to plow snow, pulled it out of the garage to let it warm up. I let it run apx 5mins. and when I backed it up I noticed a small patch of pink in the snow. I checked all over the tractor and loader and couldn't find any leaks or residue anywhere. I'm not sure if it's hydro fluid or diesel fuel. It was on the right side toward the front, not sure how far forward because I didn't notice it till I had gone backwards about 4 or 5 feet. The pink spot wasn't under the tractor, it was off to the side, like it had sprayed. It ran fine, and I used it for a couple of hours, used it again yesterday and no pink spots or problems. Any ideas on what may have caused this?

Don't have a clue, maybe it was just marking its territory to keep the JDs' away /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Just like my Harley did /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Cheers

My knee jerk reaction has me thinking that it's diesel fuel. What kind of fuel do you get: on road or off road diesel. The off road diesel is red. Look in your fuel filter bowl, if it's red, then you have off road fuel. If it's yellow, then you have on road fuel.

My filter bowl leaks a little bit. Maybe yours does too.

Another thing to check into is the color of your hydraulic fluid. Is it red?

I do use off road diesel, and that was my first thought, but I sure as heck can't figure out the source. Ran it again yesterday for 15 minutes or so with no sign of anything. The tank is about half full and no leaks at the bowl.

Joe, I went into my shop building one day and noticed a puddle under the tractor; thought I had a bad leak. It turned out that when I filled it up the day before, I overdid it. Then our warm weather caused just enough expansion to push a little fuel out the vent. Now I know you don't have the warm weather, but since you said you left it running to warm up, I was just wondering whether the tank was completely full to start with and the engine warming up also warmed the fuel enough to push a little bit out.

I think it's the red fuel dye coming through your exhaust, not a leak. I had the same thing happen to me and it turned out that with the tractor sitting and running the exhaust was blowing on the front tire and dying/melting the snow. When I'd subsequently drive off, the dyed snow melt would leave a stain/print in the snow.

I scratched my head for a very long time until it finally dawned on me what was happening. I suspect you have the same thing happening.

The only part that puzzles me is that you said it's on the right side and isn't your exhaust on the left?

THAT CONFUSED ME ALSO /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif all depends on where they are looking from? i would suggest that when stating right or left , IT BE FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT.

Same thought I had about the exhaust, but wrong side of the tractor. It hasn't happened again so it might end up being a mystery.
