I have a model 800 Ford tractor. The draw bar is missing but the support bracket is still on the tractor. I got under the tractor today and dug the mud and debris out of what appears to be the attaching point for the draw bar. I can buy a new draw bar from Steiner's but I gather a pin fits up through the bottom and I would slid a hitch pin in the top to hold it. Is that how a draw bar is attached here. it appears a short pin would fit inside that head protector ring and go up through the two brackets and get pinned on the top. I just want to ask you pro's before I go buying the parts that I need.

Thanks for your help. Hope the attached picture helps you to see what I'm working with.

You are correct, a pin from the bottom through the bracket is what keeps the drawbar in place.

Works for me!! Now I'm working on my second order from Steiner.

Any suggestion where I could find real "parts" for this tractor? The left brake ratchet lock pawl is missing. If I could buy one I would repair that too.

Thanks for the help.

Just make sure there is not an issue with the drawbar anchor point, like no threads or a broken bolt, before you order.

Good suggestion but it looks like what happened was the pin that retains the draw bar may have dropped out and the bar pulled against the suport bracket and bent it outward. I can straighten the support bracket in my press and the attaching bracket to the rear end is intact. So all I need is the draw bar and I found the special pin too. So this should be just a job of reassembly after I straighten the support.

Thanks for the advice.

Sounds like an easy fix for you. I've saw the rear support bracket torn loose from the tractor destroying the threaded holes in the process.

Just ordered the parts this mroning. You're description of what you've see is exactly what this looks like. Only difference is the support bracket just got bent and is very repairable. So yes, easy fix.

Maybe you already said, if so I missed it, where are you getting the drawbar from?
