Finally got to use my power king 1614 FEL leveling a driveway. the 4Ft bucket would not lift when 1/2 to 3/4 full. I have no pressures to go by as the company didnt list them in the manual. the bucket doesnt drift down. I did install a gauge before the control valve. The backhoe seems to work fine. they both run off the same pump. Any suggestions on where to start would be really helpfull. thanks so much.

Can you make the relief valves work in both directions? What pressure are you reading, and in what mode. Raise the bucket all the way, and read the pressure. Then try to raise the front wheels off the ground, and check pressure. . Does the fluid go through the FEL valve before the back hoe?

thanks for the reply JJ. wow you look a bit different without the grizzly adams look. winters coming, I'm starting to grow mine. the FEL is fed after the BH. when I was doing the driveway I could lift the wheels off the ground with the FEL. I didnt check the pressure(I was concentrating on just trying to work the thing) when I checked it before it was around 300 psi at a low rpm, but the FEL did go up at that pressure. the belts are tight to the pump. I believe its only a 4 to 7 gpm pump from factory at most from what I've read. the BH would lift the tractor up even with the stabilizers down when I dug in to far with the bucket. as always thanks for your replies-I'd be lost without your help.

Oh, on the relief valve, I dont know how to do what you asked.
from reading in the PK forum, it is set at 1000 from the factory. thats all I know-
but I did have it apart checking for sludge. it has a ball bearing, then a spring, then a plug with the set screw, then an acorn nut covering the set screw. tractor is a 1978, with a victor 2 spool valve

I believe your pressure is being lost before the FEL. As a test. can you disconnect the pump output hose and connect to the FEL directly. That will give you the full pressure from the pump. If you can not make the relief valves activate, then you do not have enough pressure at the FEL. While you are doing this, put a gage at the input to the FEL, and then the hose from the pump. The reading that you will see, is assuming that all other items are good.

If your bucket full of dirt did not drift down in 24 hour, then you can assume that the spools in the valve, are good.

Thanks for the reply. I will give this a try. I have the gauge already at the input to the FEL. so it it drifts down full of dirt with the BH bypassed, I need new seals in the spools? I took the relief valve apart not knowing what it was, so i might have screwed up the adjustment, I counted the threads and assembled the same way.I have no dirt. I can get sandbags- I'll need them soon for winter weight in my truck. I may not get to this, the weather is turning fast. I'm heading down south, but I start with this when I get back.
thanks for all your help JJ.
