Tractor
Kubota BX 25D, Massey Ferguson 1735M hydro cab
Hey everyone,
I've been lurking for a while gathering information for my new Tractor purchase and figured it was time to join. Lot's of great information here.
I think I am sold on the XR4100HC series. I was looking at the XR3135 but realized the hydraulics for the FEL are not enough to pick up a ton of pellets and that will be one of my uses.
I have made a list of everything I want extra on the tractor. My question is I would like it for this winter but I don't really NEED if for this winter, so in your opinions would you hold off and purchase a 2019 instead of a 2018, any pros or cons too that? I understand once the 2019's come out maybe a 2018 might be discounted, maybe not.

I will update my profile but just for information right now I have a Kubota BX25D and love it, so not sure if I will get rid of it.

Thanks for all the great information on this site!

Model years on tractors aren’t as big a deal as they are in the automotive industry. Buy what you want when you need it and don’t worry about the model year unless LS is planning to upgrade he tractor to a new model.

Thanks. Yes I have also read that, I just seem to think if the company has to keep replacing a particular part or item on a machine, or something doesn't work quite right they might fix it on the newer model without making it big news. I have read that some people were experiencing issues with the bucket loader valves, or even the steering angle on some LS XR models. I guess I am just hoping (wishing) these issues may be taken care of on a newer model.

Thanks for the reply and the video!

Have you driven one yet? Just make sure the cab fits you well. I really liked the XR as well, but there was this crazy situation where the steering column was too short for my frame. When I got the seat and the pedals comfortable I was really reaching for the steering wheel. No manner of tilt adjustment helped. if I got the wheel and seat in the right position, my foot was cramped on the pedals. I did not encounter this on any of the other machines I demoed including JD, TYM, Kubota, Kioti, Massey.

Just make sure the machine fits you well and performs as you expect before you make any decisions. Get out and drive it, use the FEL, forward/reverse, etc. Mimic the tasks you will be using it for as much as you can in the parking lot ;)

That said, I really like the LS tractors. If I get a second it might just be LS. My choices would be Kubota, Kioti, LS.

Also agree do not worry about model years. These aren't cars. Even if you get it now, why not use it this winter to move some snow!

Thanks Jchonline. I have sat in both the 3100 and 4100 series but have not driven them. Just sitting in the 4100 series felt good, but I will drive one and adjust the seat to see how it feels. I am 6' 2" and have long arms, my long sleeve shirts are always a little short, lol. I like the LS XR series for a few reasons and one of them being everything you get for your money. I do understand there are other manufacturers out there that many will say are a better tractor and I might agree, but I am just a home owner (No farm) with a few different plots of land so I like the value of the LS. Again, I do love my Kabota, but I want something a little bigger and with a cab also :)

I agree LS is a great balance of value and see no reason not to seriously consider one of their tractors. I am 6ft 190, just to give you an idea as well.

Definitely. The specs on the Mahindra 1533 and 2533 were really similar, 25 series cheaper, less 'refined'. Dealer had '17 1533 and 2538, also '18 1633 (a few changes from the prior year, including changing the series from 15xx to 16xx). I bought the 1533 because the legroom on the 2538 was too short (I am 6'2"). The seat is low and the pedals close. My right knee would be locked up in no time having to hold my leg back and up. Better price on the '17 15/25 series tractors than the '18 models. Dealer needs to get the old stuff off the lot, they are paying interest on the loans used to bring the machines in. I got mine in August this year though, might not be a price deal in the spring between model years.

I am not sure how LS does their floor plan for the dealers. But some may give x number of days from the time that they receive it, to the time they start the charges. If you can find one that is setting on a dealer lot and it is what you want, you may get a little better price on it. But would never tell you to not wait for the tractor you want. A dealer may be willing to give a little better price before spring due to sales being slow.

I wish Alabama wasn't so far Haney Equipment in Alabama appears to give great package deals. The tractor, 2 implements and the trailer is going for the same price as just the tractor here in Maine. I really want to work a deal with my local dealer, I think that is important. Saving $1500 to go with an out of state dealer is not worth it to me, but when someone can save 3k to 5k, that is a big deal.
