It is a later model John Deere. No till. Maybe a 7000 model. Probably a plateless planter. No doubt a cutdown model from a wider 6 or more row planter.

I attached a E bay add for John Deere 71 planter which is a plate type planter. This one had a buy it now $1499 with free shipping. There are a lot of planters on E-Bay. Tritonman who is sometimes on the forum has planters for sale and would be a good source of info on planters.

I just recently planted corn the first time ever and loved it. I was using a old JD and im not sure what the model was. I have a total of 4 acres I will plant and if I can find one here soon then I will plant the rest of my land. I only planted about 1.5 acres so far. I planted .75 acres in sweet corn and the rest in silage corn. I am doing this for wildlife/Hobby.

How much money can be made if I did all sweet corn and sold it on a road side stand. Like I say I’m in it for fun but the sweet corn can definitely burn a whole in my pocket as expensive as it is.

I like the idea of having a fertilizer box on the planter as well but it is not rill important cause I can just spread the firt with my regular spreader before I drag harrow the field.

Based off of what I have read on here, more people stand behind the JD 71 then any other planter. There are tons of ford 309 planters for sale around me and I just don’t know weather to go with one of them or buy a jd 71 and drive 4 plus hours to pick it up. What do you think about this old international planter: 2 Row Corn Planter

That looks like a 295 International planter--I have a 1 row #295 for $595. I also have 2 JD planters coming out of the shop this week, 3 Massey Ferguson #39's, 1 Case 2 row and 3 Ford 309's. Also stock the New 1 row Covington TP46 for $1395 with fertilizer and cultivator and 4 different seed plates. Ken Sweet

That's a first generation Deere MaxEmerge 7000 series planter. There is probably more aftermarket "stuff" available for that planter than any other brand/model. (ie row cleaners, coulters, ect) They have enough weight per row to do some REAL no till planting. Lighter planters will get seed in the ground, but not at consistant depth, especially in tough conditions. Just because a planter has disc openers, it's not always able to no till CORRECTLY.

There was (is?) a guy here in Kentucky that does the 2-row Deere 7000 planters and sells them around $1100 for conventional and $1300 for no-till. (It's been a few months since I've seen one of his adds...) I'll do a little digging and see what I can find. Seems like he was from somewhere around Winchester Ky?
