I know this sounds crazy but it works. Freeze the seed for a day and then spread it out when it warms up. Some how it makes it start growing quicker. I had an older man tell me this and i thought he was nuts but I tried it on one part of my lawn and the other side i spread right out of the bag at normal temp. To my suprise the seed that was frozen started sprouting quicker than the other.

Well an update and comment about your freezing the seed technique. I wound up planting on Monday night before weather set in. Snowflakes were falling while I finished rolling the seed in the ground. Tuesday through Friday morning we had record low temperatures around -20 degrees for three days. As shallow as grass seed is I suspect we will see if your suggestion of freezing the seeds work. Snowed Monday thru Wednesday on and off for a total of about 10 to12 inches. Still have some of this slowly melting into the ground.

I am looking at high temperatures of 55F and lows of 25F this week. Might take another 5 weeks to get to the germination temps BP mentioned.

Waiting anxiously as this property owner is a good friend and good customer, I wan't this lawn to look good.:licking:
