That is the mentality that we have to deal with at that shop. We all work for the same city government, but for some reason, the shop foreman thinks he has all of the brains.
The best part was when they first got the plasma about 8 months ago. One of the mechanics told me about this. I wish I had been there.
It came in on a truck line and was unloaded to the shop floor. The Foreman was off that day, so when he came in the next morning he uncrated the plasma and set it on a table. One of the other mechanics was trying to tell him about what a plasma cutter would do, but the foreman told him to get back to work and that he (the foreman) could handle something "as simple as hooking this thing up".
Once all of the cables had been connected, the foreman plugged the plasma in, got a scrap of steel, and began trying to cut. All he could get it to do was arc.

They said he stormed off cussing because he couldn't get it to cut. He stayed in the office on the phone about 20 minutes,
then came out and ran an air hose to it...
When we sat down to look at the manual today, I had to open the plastic bag, it was still sealed.
This is why me and my guys usually do most of the work on our equipment.
