Plastic Moldboards on a Plow

I'm thinking about going to look at this plow John Deere plow but was wondering what everyone's opinion was on the plastic moldboards?

Geez thats a good price for a rollover plow. I'm guessing they would plow clay and muck nice but wear quickly in sand and rocky soils.

No kidding. That's a nice price.

I know nothing about the plastic moldboards but I do know JD went into them in the 90's on several plows.........the other I know of for sure was the lateral switch plow which had plastic moldboards. I would have to think that if you're in really rocky soil the plastic boards would be an issue. If not, just the occasional rock, then it's probably fine.

Gosh, for the money, it's a good looking plow from the pics.

The plastic is just a wear guard to keep the steel moldboard from wearing out as fast.

It's also a special kind of plastic. UHMW I believe. It's a very slick very high wearing material.

Sorry, but those are not plastic wear guards to protect steel underneath. There is no steel moldboard - just the plastic in place. I would think they'd be quite durable. Notice the shins and shares where the wear really takes place are still steel. I betcha its great in sticky ground.
