Hi from the land down under. Has anybody come across this plastic threaded nut with an allen key insert . I found it at the rear of my BX 24 when I was giving it a tub yesterday I'm a little miffed at were it belongs. Would anybody know were this belongs. The first photo has been taken from the rear of my BX left hand upper side.

I am guessing that your "nut" is a protective cover that came off of some part in the process of assembly of the tractor. Some how it ended tucked or wedged into a place in the tractor, not discarded as it should have been, and not seen during final inspection.

Ozzie, that piece doesn't look like it belongs on the BX either. I haven't looked at mine yet, but I don't recall anything even remotely looking like that on mine. I'll take a look around on mine in the rear today and let you know, but I just don't recall a piece like that.

The nut is painted the same dark grey as the rear of the BX , the paint seems to be sprayed better on one side than the other and the allen key hole is 4.5mm in width.

That looks like it might have been a temp plug in something to keep the dirt out before the tractor was assembled. I have bought pumps with such in the holes.

Hi John,

I've also look around the BX24, did not find such a thing....
The only thing this can be is Kubota extra part needed for the BX to properly run upside-down under :)

The nut has a threaded end so it was possibly designed to stay in place as a protective cover ? The allen key insert may be there to get it into a hard to get place? The BX has got 120 hrs on it.

Well Richard it would only be you who could think of such a plausible explanation:D The mystery deepens I'm offering my world class Wood Fired Pizza for Two at my place for the one who comes up with the right answer and the nut location ;) I'm not offering the airfare!

I looked at mine today, I don't see any thing that relates to the part you have. Looks like you got a freebie of assembly protection part.:D

FWIW
I've seen similar plugs in hydraulic pumps/motors to prevent contamination by dirt etc...they are removed when the device is plumbed...
