There shouldnt be very much at all when new, make sure you keep them greased.

this is a question i also asked the dealer and they could'nt find anything wrong so i went there to show them what it was that i was refering to and could not duplicate it.%$#@! so now that i have the machine back at home i know how to present it. i found that with the bucket on the ground and the cutting edge approx. 1" off the ground, pressing down on the cutting edge with you're foot you can see excess play in the upper link pin.i feel this movement i am seeing is excessive on a brand new machine.the front of the bucket will move up and down almost an inch.i did'nt have this problem with the New Holland TC29D that i had.the 7308 loader on it was super nice and performed flawless.so what gives with all this movement? any ideas here gang ? i had entered a post on 430 loader with a loose bucket after i returned from the dealer. i thought i had the question answered but as you can see it's still in the air. anyone else seeing this problem on their 430 loader????????

Is it really play in the pins or is it the hydraulic cylinders? If it's the pins, I'd want them fixed and if it's the cylinders, probably normal with a little air in them and nothing to worry about.

Where you see the play, pull those pins out and check the diameters (inside diam of hole and the pin diam) and tell us what the difference is. If, you are doing, my interpretation of your description for a test, then you are seeing the 'movement' or 'slop' in more than one joint of pins. I will put mine in that mode when I get the forks off and the bucket on, and see what I get.
Not being able to duplicate for the dealer does present a problem for any future complaint. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hope you find out what it is.

My 4600 / 460 FEL has similar slip in the pins, but not very significant. According to my dealer (who I visited yesterday for warranty work), this is normal. If it is overly aggressive then the pins themselves should be replaced as they do wear down or get sheared over time. On my loader it was the lower cross bar with the pins on either end that we checked/tested.

Is this normal to the rest your collective recollections on this? I trust my dealer pretty well but I'd be interested in hearing some of your thoughts.

Thanks!

-Bob
