I have a 2004 NH tc40 tractor, all the sensors ,switches, starter, battery, fuses, and motor (will turn over by hand) but when I try to start the engine, the starter kicks in but still acts like it has a lot of drag on it. I had starter checked at auto store close by and it checks out OK. any one that may know whats wrong and what to do to fix it please let me know thanks Wayne.

The way I'm reading your description...that starter isn't turning fast enough.
First, jumper your battery (with the one in your vehicle) and try starting. Your tractor's battery may be getting tired.

If that doesn't do it...well, unless you're reasonably experienced in this kind of thing, I suggest you take it to your dealer.

well after a long search i found the problem! a neighbor that new the guy i bought the tractor from had took the grounding wires off the starter housing and put them on solenoid instead of placing them back on the housing when he checked out the starter. after i put a new neutral safety switch on and wires in proper place it fired up thanks for everyone's help.

Most sold equipment with power problems are actually 'caused' by the previous owner..

glad you got er going.
