Hello all,
I am new posting here but have visited this website for a couple years now. I seem to find tractorbynet is the most frequented tractor website online so i hope someone can help.
I have a 2012 Kubota Bx2660. It's my first real tractor larger than a typical riding lawn mower.
I recently purchased a used, rusty WW Grinder Super Apache 240c 3 point chipper shredder from an old man for $300. It seems to have very little use to it but the blades need sharpening and it needs to be gone through. He had it covered on a lot off his property and over the years while it sat, the tarp deteriorated and exposed over half of it to the weather through what my guess is several years. The good news is that everything moves well by hand, and these things aren't exactly rocket science.
I'm trying to remove the main cover to access the flywheel. Although there is an access port in the flywheel cover to get to the blades to remove and sharpen them, i want full access to assess the condition of the flywheel, and to remove all the main metal covers to sandblast and paint/restore.
In the following picture you will see i am pointing to a ring ( for lack of a better term ). I have removed all the bolts holding the flywheel cover on. I have removed the bearing keeper which keeps the bearing from walking on the shaft, and i have loosened the three bolts which hold the ring onto the flywheel cover. But i can't get the cover off, as it seems like the outside race of the bearing is a few thousandths to big to allow the ring to be removed completely. If i apply some heat ( i know be careful, there is a bearing there ) with heat i can begin to pry the ring to a point where i get a little bit of wiggle, but i just can't imagine that the process to remove this ring calls for heat and heavy prying. The rings metal is not very thick and i'm afraid that if i pry to hard, i'll begin to warp it.
I have a 4 page factory manual which looks like it was retained in a three ring binder due to the holes in it. The manual for this unit is only applicable to parts which are not found on what seems to be a 'base' for all ww grinder chipper/shredders. The manual frequently refers to a 'section 5, page 22 of a Wichita/Whichita Traveler Manual' for instructions on how to remove the bearings. For those that haven't figured it out yet, the WW in W.W. Grinder stands for Wichita/Wichita.
I need to know how to remove this bearing to inspect the fly wheel and sandblast/restore this chipper. Also i would love to hear from anyone who had one of these, and what to look for during disassembly.
Any and all help would be appreciated. Here is a pic of the over all chipper, and then the bearing i'm having problems with ..
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH...
