Can any of the Yanmar Cub owners give the readers some rating on the digging power of and examples of digging projects with their Cubs? Some of the things I would love to hear from users:
Anyone dig drainage trenches? How deep and long?
Any problems with rocks etc?
Anyone dig a dry-well?
How does your machine dig near full depth?
Any foundation trenches for a garage or shed?
Anything else you have dug?
Pictures please!!!

Seems what the soil is like would be the key variable. Not the Yanmar Cub.
Other key variables would be bucket size and edge, ballast, tires, etc.

Maybe you will get some helpful answers, but I'd rather doubt that. ;)

What size machine are you asking about?

I think it's fair to expect the same capability as any other comparative compact. Theyæ±*e not excavators, but I suspect it will feel like one compared to a shovel.

Good point....the EX450 backhoe will dig a whole lot better than the sc2450 hoe......

I personally have the older version of the Ex3200 machine, a 7532 with backhoe. Last summer I did lots of digging with it, started digging out a bank of dirt and various trenches for a detached garage.
I you look under "projects" named "breaking into the bank" you will see it's digging abilities.
I was/am very impressed with the abilities of this sized machine. I've also owned the predecessor of the 2450, and while capable, digging in hard dirt or digging stumps is more of a challenge due to it's much lighter weight.
Hope this helps!

I was kind of looking at any size yanmar cub and what kind of projects people did with their respective machine. It has been helpful hearing what people do with their large cub's as well as the smaller ones. I have a few digging projects around the property I want to do and want to select the right size machine that will cover all my needs the best. The posts have been very helpful.

Then the right size would be the biggest one you can get. :)

While he might be kidding, beenthere has a valid point.......you never wish for less power, only more!

While I agree completely with getting the largest machine or the most power (within reason of course), I need a snowblower which locks me in to the smallest machine in the lineup. I think for my yard care/snow needs the 2450 is perfect, but for the digging and landscaping I want to do the 3200 is perfect. If the 3200 had a snowblower that model would win hands down for all my needs.

I live in north east rocky area.
Digs well, dug up a 4 ft root system in about an hour running at 1800 rpm, would have dug faster with more rpm.
I will be doing drainage ditch and trench soon, maybe a dry well.
When digging two root systems the little BH went over 4 ft deep without any problems.
I also picked up some top soil with the FEL. It dug well enough but larger tractor would push in further before being stopped by the amount of dirt.
The above was using lower rpms than I should have, this spring I will try again with more power and see where it goes.

IMHO... Great tractor.
